ABOUT
Resorts World Las Vegas required a redesign of its booking engine to provide a smoother checkout flow for guests. The current design was cluttered and hard to follow, complicating the booking process. The hotel had four different hotel products that needed to be clear to the guests. Additionally, a way for guests to select discount rates that would apply to the room rate was necessary. The design also had to consider future updates and functionalities, like dynamic rates.
CHALLENGE
The primary objective was to create a design system from scratch for a third-party development company, to facilitate the development of a new booking engine. The design needed to make the checkout process efficient, encourage guests to sign up for the hotel's reward system - Genting Rewards, and enable data capture.

Ideation & Concepts
Ideas were centered around a clean, timeless design that would provide clarity and speed to the user during the booking process. It also needed to integrate dynamic rate functionality and incentives to sign up for Genting Rewards.

Design Process
The design process involved a comprehensive review of the existing booking engine, identifying its strengths and areas for improvement, especially in accommodating a variety of user personas entering different stages of the flow at any given time. We worked closely with a third-party development company to ensure our designs were technically feasible, which led to a productive ideation process. The user-focused design process was iterative, involving continuous prototyping, testing, and refining based on feedback, leading to a streamlined, user-friendly final design that met the needs of the diverse user personas effectively.
RESULTS
The newly redesigned booking engine has been well received by both the internal team and the third-party development company, with its launch scheduled for the next few months. Through this project, we've reinforced the importance of a user-centered design approach and strong collaboration with technology partners. As we eagerly await the system going live, we look forward to gaining real-world user feedback and performance metrics. This will help us further refine and optimize the system, driving growth and enhancing the customer experience.
